Do You Have Room?

The response to my newly released song, Do You Have Room, has been overwhelming.

Just one month ago, the song was still tucked away in my music file drawer. But now, it will be sung around the world this Christmas in Christmas Eve worship services, firesides, Sacament Meetings, outdoor pageants, Evangelical celebrations, Midnight Mass, seminary classes, neighborhood parties, and Family Home Evenings.

May your Christmas be full of love and joy,

You can download the song for free, but I’m asking you to do two things for me:

Please don’t make other copies without obtaining permission.  Please email me and let me know where you’re from, how you are using the music and/or how you are making room for the Savior.

I’m collecting stories from all over the world, and plan to post some of them on my blog.

DO YOU HAVE ROOM (VERSION 2)

Dear friends,

I have finally finished a new version of the Do You Have Room video, known at our house as “Room 2.0.” The visual content is completely different, but the song and the message are the same.

Thanks to a lot of hard work from my friends at the More Good Foundation, a few of their benefactors, artists Liz Lemon Swindle, Joseph Brickey and Mark Mabry, graciously agreed to extend permissions for this project. The More Good Foundation facilitates personal expressions of faith and promotes positive Internet content, and I’m so thankful for their timely and thorough assistance.

I’ve enjoyed choosing the pictures for this video—there are as many different versions of Joseph and Mary and the Baby as there are images, and I’ve decided that’s a good thing. Like the artists, each one of us has our own personal lens through which we see the blessed story of His birth, His life and His atoning sacrifice.

Now one more thing. One of my sons asked me this morning why I was spending so much time on this project. I told him it’s because I owe it to you. I know many of you were planning to use the video for your lessons or your families and suddenly it was gone, and I feel like I let you down because I didn’t do my homework thoroughly enough. I’ve learned some things from this experience, but that’s a topic for another day.

I’ve loved reading your emails. I will cherish this Christmas forever – this season of a thousand new friends. From the bottom of my heart, I thank you all and wish you a Merry Christmas and a peaceful New Year.
